Happy Halloween!

If you’re familiar with the Madagascar films, you’ll recognize Charlotte is Marty (the Chris Rock character) and Katie is Alex (Ben Stiller). If not, they still make a mean zebra/lion combo. Here’s the zebra singing the lion a lullaby before being attacked by a dog (Bailey, as herself):

Tea Party (But Not That Kind)

Here’s Charlotte’s reaction after I told her Uncle Brett and Aunt Corinne were coming over last night.

She loves fake tea.

Down Time

Our girls aren’t much for napping, but they’ll occasionally rest long enough for us to take some pictures.

Charlotte has been telling everyone we see about her baby sister. “I have a baby sister,” she told the cashier at Dunkin Donuts.

Sisterly Love

Charlotte was willing to pose with her sister as long as the photoshoot didn’t interfere with tonight’s episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Katie was on board. “Just don’t let Charlie manhandle me,” she urged.

Things started to get out of hand.

Then we lost all control.

Katie was understandably pissed.

But they reached a temporary peace.

Talking About Twitter

The Cleveland Plain Dealer recently asked me about the mental_floss Twitter account. I know you’re dying to know what I had to say.

Identical Sisters #4

Can you tell who’s who? (Hint: Katie’s on the left.)

A Brief Musical Interlude

When we told Charlotte that Uncle Mark was coming over yesterday, she burst into song. The song was meant to reassure Katie that Uncle Mark is not scary.

Here Charlotte takes another page out of the Yo Gabba Gabba songbook and gives her baby sister a pep talk. It worked. Katie looks pumped.

Scenes From Sesame Place

We made our fifth trip to Sesame Place on Saturday.

Halfway through an action-packed day, Charlie needed a raisins break.

Katie had fun, too.

How to Get to Sesame Place

We surprised Charlie today with one last trip to Sesame Place. (If you’re keeping score at home, that makes five for the year.) Here’s how she took the news.

And She’s One (Month)!

Today Katie turned one month. We celebrated with a trip to the doctor for a weight-check. (Her weight checks out.)

In other milestone news, Ellen and I celebrated our sixth anniversary last weekend. She got me a fancy new FlipCam. Expect some great new videos in the next few days.

Kids Make You Say The Darndest Things

Having two kids gives me the chance to say all sorts of new sentences.

“No, honey, you can’t put the Mr. Potato Head glasses on your sister.”

“Please take your socks off your hands and stop rubbing them on Katie’s face.”

(Though this one left me speechless.)

Bath Time

Ellen’s cousins came over to play Mr. Potato Head with Charlotte tonight, so I managed to sneak into Katie’s bath time with the camera.

Gonna be honest: she didn’t seem crazy about all the flashing.

Earlier today we went for a nice family walk, dog included. Katie didn’t seem crazy about the outdoors, either.

She does like the sound of running water, being warm, and general cleanliness. Bath time is her time. (As I’ve mentioned before, she also likes the Hawaii Five-0 theme song and anything by Dave Brubeck.)

And here’s the obligatory side-by-side comparison. Katie (today) and Charlotte (August 2008). They may not look like twins, but they look like sisters. Which they are. Maybe these side-by-side comparisons aren’t as mind-blowing as I thought they were.

Identical Sisters #3

Left: Katie (today). Right: Charlie (August 2008).

This will be on the quiz.

The Big 3-Weeks

Katie turned three weeks old today. For the third consecutive week, she’s worked hard to convince us she’s a laid back baby. Very content. Good eater. Decent sleeper.

I’m nervous.

Nap Time

Charlotte’s not much of a napper, but she knows the cardinal rule of raising a newborn: you sleep when she sleeps.

Bailey knows this rule, too. She’s gotta work hard to get in her 19 hours.

Then Katie woke up.

She prefers to nap alone.
