The Birthday Girl

Charlotte had 40 of her closest friends over on Saturday to celebrate the completion of her inaugural year.

She wasn’t thrilled about the hat.

But she was all about the presents.

She did very well in the books, puzzles and clothes departments.

And she now has a shopping cart for future spending sprees.

Uncle Mark, with help from Aunt Liz, designed and built this table for Charlie.

It’s a wonderful gift that reminds me of something they’d do for a kid with a third arm on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. There’s a lot of Ty Pennington in those two.

Thankfully her first birthday cake didn’t end up on Cake Wrecks, a tremendous blog that documents professional cakes gone horribly wrong.

Well done, Maggie Moo’s.

It was good to see Aunt Karen and Uncle Keith…

…and Uncle Greg and Grandpa John, and Uncle Brett & Aunt Corinne (NOT PICTURED).

She also got to meet Wilson Hall, whose father always brings good government gossip.

Here Charlotte is playing tug-of-war with her Great Grandma Nana.

And this is Mom & Daughter staring at all the new stuff. Coming soon: pictures of Charlotte (and Bailey) playing with all of it.
