Charlotte has been on the disabled list since Friday with croup. High fever, scary cough, congestion, ear infection – she’s had it all. On top of that, her first tooth picked the worst possible time to break on through.

While medical-types might argue otherwise, I’ve always said there’s only one cure for croup – a trip to a traditional small-town American festival. Lucky for Charlotte, Saturday was Wayne Day ’09.

Held on the grounds of the local high school, Wayne Day featured all the staples of the classic local fair – food, rides, clowns, games of chance, temporary tattoos…

…and a tent offering literature on how we can change U.S. monetary policy.

This gentleman rented a booth to protest the way our town council members are elected. Worried the youth vote might overlook his message, “Child’s Ring Toss” was shoehorned in.

This was a lot for a ten-month-old baby to digest, and before long Charlotte was sound asleep. She’s eagerly anticipating Wayne Day ’10.
