The Crawl

When Charlotte sets her sights on something, not even the inability to walk can get in her way.

And how do we celebrate getting from point A to point B? We dance!

DJ Chaz

We decided Charlotte was big enough for the Fisher Price Little Superstar Sing-Along Stage that her Uncle Mark bought her for Christmas. She was ready to rock indeed.

Now I will have to teach her some of my dance moves.

Dog Show

Not a lot happens in these videos, but here’s a little more Charlotte/Bailey interaction.

Eventually, Charlotte tires of her dog and reaches for the latest People magazine. After the cameras were off, she tore this issue to shreds. I keep finding random pages all about the house.

Fix It!

Charlotte’s favorite Saturday Night Live character is financial expert Oscar Rogers. Seriously. She likes when people say “Fix it!”

If you overheard me yelling at Charlotte about repairing something this weekend, I hope this explains it. “She loves Keenan Thompson!” is slightly less crazy than “We’re putting her to work!”

The Baby Food Critic: More Bananas

We will keep bananas on the menu. Next up: peas.

The Big .583!

Charlotte crossed the seven-month line today. As it happened, today was “Pajama Day” at her school. This was poetic, because last night she fell asleep before we could get her into pajamas. Not wanting to anger the baby sleep gods by waking her, I jacked up the heat instead.

It’s my position that everyone should be allowed to wear PJs on their birthday, but I lack the mandate to make that happen. We will enforce this in the mental_floss North Jersey satellite office, however.

The Baby Food Critic: Bananas

This confirms it – bananas are hilarious!

Here’s an outtake from the other day. Charlotte’s Great Nana (her dad’s mom’s mom) sent her that Valentine with the puppy on it. Mid-meal, she decided she needed to make sure it wasn’t a real dog, ready to pounce. Bailey was convinced it was, in fact, a new canine addition – and expressed her displeasure by barking profusely.

Take Your Daughter To Her Mommy’s Work Day

Charlotte attends a very patriotic daycare center that closes for Presidents’ Day, so she and I headed down to Ellen’s office for lunch today. The Merck folks were very kind to their little visitor, who was on her best behavior – come 2028, she might need an internship, and any hysterical cafeteria crying fits now could come back to haunt her.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

After an exciting family excursion to the Super Stop & Shop, Charlotte is enjoying a quiet Valentine’s Day at home.

She’s perfectly content to just sit around.

She’s working on her crab-crawl, which means forcing herself backwards. Like the baby Moonwalk.

I was hoping we could move before we had to on-the-crawl baby-proof the house.

Bailey is a little confused by her newly mobile sister.

Before it was covered in formula, we managed to get a picture of Charlie in the fancy new bib her great-grandma brought back from Sarasota.

The Baby Food Critic: More Peaches + Oatmeal

Before we get to the eating portion of the program, let’s pause for a quick high-five.

On to the main course. Today we served oatmeal with peaches and it was a mess. Tomorrow I will be having oatmeal for breakfast, but probably won’t film it.

This Is Her Life

It’s been a while since our last photo round-up. Here’s what Charlotte’s been up to:

She’s still fuzzy on the whole headphones concept. Give her time.

She’s sitting up.

The Baby Food Critic: Peaches

After mixed reviews for green beans, we moved on to peaches, which to us looked and smelled and tasted (yes, tasted) delicious. For Charlotte, it was not love at first bite.

She came around, but found sucking the peaches off her thumb preferable to the more traditional spoon-feeding method.

The Baby Food Critic: More Green Beans

We’re not sure if Charlotte was rebelling against the green beans or protesting the repetitive nature of tonight’s meal.

Because we don’t want to turn her off food entirely, Ellen capped off the meal with sweet potatoes. Charlotte’s mood changed instantly.
