A Day of Firsts

Today was a day of firsts: first pediatrician appointment, first walk around the neighborhood, first baby bath. Charlotte was excited by exactly none of these momentous occasions.

She did a little too much sleeping today. I fear the night.

All clean.

Maybe the new baby smell has worn off. Bailey has accepted Charlotte’s presence in the house. Most of the time, she completely ignores the newest arrival.

Most of the time.
One more first—the first time I acted like an angry dad. A guy from the New Jersey Environmental Fund rang the doorbell while dog and baby were sleeping. He wanted money, but in the absence of money, he wanted me to read a lengthy brochure affixed to his clipboard about local clean water projects. “I’ve got a newborn!” I said, practically stomping my feet. “I can’t deal with this right now.” I slammed the door.
It was 8:30 and still light out.

haha so true about people ringing the doorbell. we used to flip if the phone rang after 8 pm for fear it would wake up the baby. hoping your night went well! she’s a cutie!
