Reunion Recap

I was very pleased with last night’s turnout. Over 100 people showed up to commemorate ten long years since graduation. Here are a few pics. Follow the link below to my Facebook photo gallery for more.

What do we tell those who did not attend the reunion? There were some people we knew that didn’t attend we want to know what to tell them.
You have to post 4 separate messages: For those who attended the reunion, for those who attended the reunion and were at Valleyview when in 8th grade, for those who did not attend the reunion, and for those who did not attend the reunion and were at Valleyview when in 8th grade.
We know that for those who were at Valleyview when in 8th grade and did not attend, the reunion didn’t have much importance than the pictures and sounds I’ll be capturing of what will prove to be a far dramatic and extraordinary day in our lives: December 21 when our middle school principal, Mr. George Deamer, retires.
My parents have urged me to go to Valleyview to bid Mr. Deamer farewell. I hope to come out of Valleyview and say this:
“I just went to Valleyview and got final thoughts from their principal, Mr. George Deamer, as he retires. I shared my thoughts as he retires. It has been wonderful knowing Mr. Deamer. I consider him not just a principal, but a dear, dear friend. I know that I’m speaking for all Valleyview graduates when I say this.
“I want to thank the many people who helped me make this visit, including my parents, who urged me to go to Valleyview, Mr. Deamer and Mr. Novak, and administrators in the Morris Hills Regional High School District, including Dr. Ernest Palestis (the chief school administrator), Joe Cacciaguida (principal at Morris Hills), and Bill Cleffi (principal at Morris Knolls).
“And really know, particularly what transpired from this, the main thing that transpired from this, but we’re not just seeing the retirement of a man or even the retirement of a principal, but the passage of time. It really tends to put our lives in some perspective. It was fascinating to me from that level that in saying good-bye to Mr. Deamer, we also said good-bye in some way to an era that had both its pluses and its negatives.”

Jason: You have to write this message to members of the class who were at Valleyview Middle School when in 8th grade:
“This past Thursday, Sanjay visited Valleyview and bid farewell to our principal when in middle school, Mr. George Deamer. I looked at the video Sanjay recorded of Mr. Deamer’s final thoughts, which he took with Mr. Joe Novak at his side.
“And really know, why I echoed Sanjay’s sentiment about what he said about Mr. Deamer’s retirement as having more significance than our reunion last month, especially knowing that we saw this 4 1/2 years ago when Mr. Kurt Weinheimer, our principal when at Morris Knolls, retired, we weren’t just seeing the retirement of a man we knew or even the retirement of our principal, but the passage of time. It really tends to put our lives in some perspective. It was fascinating to us from that level that in saying good-bye to Mr. Demaer, we also said good-bye in some way to an era that had both its pluses and its negatives in our lives.”
